How it's made

THE INNK PRINT

Made to last. Not to be replaced.

Most prints on the market are made to be cheap: thin paper, dye inks that fade, plastic glazing and frames wrapped in printed foil. An INNK Print is made the opposite way: museum-grade materials, produced one by one, only when you order it. Here is what that means.

01 — Curated

Every work in our collection is chosen by hand. We look for independent artists with a voice of their own, and we only release a work when we know it will hold its own on a wall for years, not weeks.

02 — Prepared

Before anything is printed, each file is prepared by fine art print specialists: colour-managed with calibrated profiles, proofed and adjusted for its paper, so that what arrives on your wall is exactly what the artist intended.

03 — Printed to order

Your print is produced in our partner fine art studio in Europe using the giclée process: a wide-gamut, multi-ink printer places millions of microscopic drops of archival pigment ink onto the paper, building tones so subtle they read as continuous.

04 — Finished by hand

Each print is trimmed and packed by hand. A clean white border frames the image and carries, discreetly, the title of the work, the artist's name and "Curated by INNK". INNK Exclusive works are also numbered by edition.

05 — Authenticated

Every INNK Print comes with a certificate of authenticity: who made it, what it is, and that it came from us.

The paper

Every work is printed on one of two fine art papers, chosen by our curators for that specific piece.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag — 308 gsm, 100% cotton, matte. From one of the oldest paper mills in the world, founded in Germany in 1584. A soft, velvety surface with no glare: the reference paper for museums and galleries. Used for illustration, painting, abstract work and softer photography.

Baryta — 310 gsm, light gloss. The modern heir of the classic darkroom print. Deep, rich blacks, crisp detail and a subtle sheen. Used for photography: black & white, architecture, landscape and street.

Both papers are acid-free and archival: they don't yellow, don't turn brittle and keep their character for decades.

The ink

We print with archival pigment inks. Pigment inks are made of solid colour particles, not dyes, so they are far more resistant to light and time. The result: deep blacks, smooth gradations and colour designed to last for generations, not seasons.

The glass

Every INNK frame is glazed with real glass, never plastic. We use low-reflection art glass with a multi-layer coating that cuts glare from windows and lamps, so you see the work, not your living room. It also carries a UV-protective coating that helps shield the print from fading.

Unlike acrylic or polystyrene glazing, glass doesn't scratch easily, doesn't yellow, doesn't bend and doesn't attract dust.

The frame

Our frames are handmade to measure, not mass-produced. Natural oak, walnut or beech wood, or a clean black or white finish, in slim or wide profiles. Each frame is sealed at the back to keep dust out, with a small spacer that keeps the paper from touching the glass. They arrive ready to hang.

  • Standard Frame — a timeless profile for any room.
  • Box Frame — a deeper profile with a gallery presence.

Every unframed print comes in a standard frame size, so it's just as easy to frame locally.

Caring for your print

Hang it away from direct sunlight and damp walls. Handle unframed prints by the edges, with clean, dry hands: fine art paper is delicate and marks easily. Dust the frame with a dry cloth.

Delivery

Smaller prints travel flat, larger ones rolled in a rigid tube. Framed pieces are sent by tracked courier, fully protected. Every order is made for you, so please allow a few extra days: good things take a little time.
